Isabelle Rivest’s floral paintings can be seen as imaginary suggestions, inviting interpretation from the viewer. She approaches her florals as still lifes from past centuries, soft, rich and deep, from the Rococo and Baroque periods. With sculpted petals and luminous shapes, many are often on dark backgrounds, reminiscent of classical bouquets. Other compositions are evocative of floral fields, thickly textured, inviting the viewer in. She aims to capture the delicate nature of flowers, filled with strong movement, natural form and a sense of serenity in each piece.

Isabelle lives and works out of her studio in Montreal, Quebec. Her work can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
