Quiet Spaces by Viviane Bergevin

In the midst of life's emotional highs and lows, we all seek quiet spaces—moments of stillness that allow us to pause, reflect, and find the strength to continue the journey. Quiet Spaces explores these moments through a series of abstract landscapes inspired by the vast horizons and enduring forms of Canadian terrain.
Rooted in familiar elements such as horizon lines, layered mountains, and shifting light, the paintings become emotional landscapes rather than representations of specific places. While the land itself remains constant, our inner weather is continually changing. Through evolving color, texture, and movement, the works reflect the many stages of human experience: innocence and awareness, uncertainty and loss, healing and renewal.
Utilizing the versatility and immediacy of acrylic paint, layers are built, fractured, and rebuilt, creating a visual language that mirrors the resilience required to move through life's challenges. Throughout this new collection, recurring forms provide a sense of stability and continuity, offering an anchor as emotions shift and transform.
Together, these paintings invite viewers to journey through their own emotional seasons, finding moments of calm amid change and discovering that sometimes a quiet space is exactly what we need to move forward and continue the voyage.
