New Worlds Emerge by Anjana Mhatre Time: Sep 2, 2019 Location: 422 1/2 Preston Street Ottawa, Ontario Born in the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai, Anjana now lives in the countryside of Ottawa, drawing inspiration from both city and nature. At first glance her work may seem purely abstract, with soft blended colour and sweeping brush strokes, however the longer you gaze hints of landscapes and cityscape come to life. Shorelines, shipwrecks, cities in the fog, emerge from the canvas, everyone seeing something different.

Join us for the Italian Festival! We’ve got so many fun activities planned this weekend, June 14th-16th for our annual Italian Festival on Preston Street. Friday David Casey and Sara Alex Mullen will duke it out for a Paint Battle on our patio! Watch them paint scenes of Italy from 7-9pm, and enjoy delicious BBQ, beer, and cocktails from our neighbours at Mason-Dixon! Come watch the Italian Car Parade from our front porch Saturday at 1pm. Decadence & Decay by David Casey

Inspired by Vanitas paintings of 16th & 17th century Europe, this exhibit explores the tragic beauty of the life of a flower. Their ephemeral existence is as brief as it is beautiful. We celebrate their beauty; indulge ourselves in them, and within days the beauty has turned to decay. Decadence, in this case, alludes to the steady march of time, for a few days, the flower blooms in a flash of uncompromising beauty. The vibrant gold back ground symbolizes decadence of beauty; oblivious to the ceaseless and unforgiving passage of time.
